January is the coldest time of the year. Bonsai trees pause their growth and quietly wait for spring. Although it may look like there is little to do, this is actually a very important season for management — it determines how the tree will look in spring. No Repotting January is a full dormancy period. Disturbing the roots weakens the tree, so repotting should not be done. A hallmark of summer, fireworks lighting up the night sky are certainly beautiful — but please take a moment to enjoy the delicate “fireworks” of our bonsai at home. This is "Taniwatari" bonsai. Even in the intense summer heat, it blooms gracefully, drawing strength from water and sunlight.

A long time ago, I read an article that said, “Bonsai is like a second round of parenting.” It described how people who have finished raising their children often take up bonsai, nurturing each tiny tree as if it were a child all over again. And I couldn’t agree more. Every day, we carefully check for signs of illness, provide the care it needs, and quietly watch its growth. It’s a lot of work—but just like parenting, it’s deeply rewarding.

2nd Vacant House Open Day – @Yokohama （Hosted by：Kotorabo × irodori） Earlier this spring, in a vacant house on a hilltop in Yokohama,the team at Kotorabo × irodori  launched an exciting new project —one that envisions a place to enrich our local lifestyle and landscape ,while turning heartfelt “Wouldn’t it be nice if we could…” ideas into real actions for the future of our community. On Sunday, July 6th , the beautifully refreshed space hosted the 2nd Vacant House Open Day .
